Basically the Thesaurus is bilingual (Chinese-English) version of the GLIN Thesaurus. The Thesaurus contains both main terms and nonpostable terms. Only main terms can be used as subject terms during searching the GLIN databases. Every term in the Thesaurus may contain use, use for, broader, narrower, related terms and nonpostable tag. If you find a nonpostable term and it is the subject term what you want, please choose its USE term as the subject term to search the GLIN databases. The system provides either search or browse mode to find subject terms from the Thesaurus.
You can choose subject terms by means of searching the GLIN Thesaurus or through browsing the list of the terms, and search the GLIN database using the chosen subject terms. Boolean operators ‘AND’ (in uppercase), ‘OR’ or ‘NOT’ can be used among terms. You can also use jurisdiction or period of issuance date to restrict the search. If you choose more than one term, the system regards the Boolean relation between terms as ‘OR’. The result will be displayed and sorted by issuance date (default) or publication date in descending order. Besides, each subject provides links to related websites of laws or hot subjects.
